Supply Teachers (ST) Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Supply Teachers digital service which can be found at the following URL:
https://marketplace.service.crowncommercial.gov.uk/supply-teachers

This website is run by Crown Commercial Service (CCS). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • There is an issue with an error message on the agency workers results page, the error message due to an invalid salary being entered is not declared by the assisted screen reader
  • When viewing the fixed term agency worker results page, while selecting skip to main content, the emphasis is on the back link, but the screen reader is declaring the content of the entire page
  • There is an issue with focus order on the temporary to permanent calculator page
  • A link is being declared as a list by the assisted screen reader on the login page
  • When viewing managed service provider and agency pages and navigating through the table, the assistive screen reader is declaring the column headers and item 1 of column twice

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the 'accessibility regulations'). If you're not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Crown Commercial Service is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

Non accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non compliance with the accessibility regulations

Info and Relationships

When viewing the fixed term agency worker results page, while selecting skip to main content, the emphasis is on the back link, but the screen reader is declaring the content of the entire page. Since the emphasis is on the back link, the screen reader should declare only that particular link.

When viewing managed service provider and agency pages and navigating through the table, the assistive screen reader is declaring the column headers and item 1 of column twice.

This fails WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships). We plan to fix this by December 2020.

Keyboard

When viewing the fixed term agency worker results page using an assistive screen reader, it is reading an error message not displayed anywhere on the page.

This fails WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion 2.1.1 (keyboard). We plan to fix this by December 2020.

Focus Order

When viewing the temporary to permanent calculator page if the user submits the form without entering any data, the error messages returned by the system are declared by the assistive screen reader, however the focus shifts to the banner landmark at the top of the page when it should shift to the error message box.

This fails WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion 2.4.3 (focus order). We plan to fix this by December 2020.

Link Purpose

On the login page, when the focus is on the “I’ve forgotten my password” link, this is being declared as a list with one item by the assisted screen reader. Declaring the link as a list may lead to confusion to the user.

This fails WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion 2.4.4 (link purpose). We plan to fix this by December 2020.

Error Identification

When on the fixed term agency worker results page, error returned on entering invalid salary is not being declared by the assistive screen reader.

This fails WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion 3.3.1 (error identification). We plan to fix this by December 2020.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Many of our older PDFs and Word documents do not meet accessibility standards - for example, they may not be structured so they're accessible to a screen reader. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role, value).

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with contract information, and forms published as Word documents.

By September 2020, we plan to either fix these or replace them with accessible HTML pages.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other document published before 23 September 2018 if they're not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
